Become an AANN Volunteer

One of the major reasons the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN) continues to grow and thrive is the many hours of work contributed by our dedicated volunteers.

We value the time and efforts of our volunteer members and invite you to join their growing ranks. Volunteering provides you with opportunities to network with other neuroscience nurses and to become a leader in the field. The time commitment required varies widely for each committee and there is something for everyone. Committee positions are typically posted early in the calendar year and terms start at or right after the Annual Educational Meeting. Shorter-term volunteer projects or task force opportunities are posted as they arise and terms vary depending on the project.

Open volunteer opportunities are listed on the NeuroNetwork volunteer page or below.

AANN, as a partnered organization with the Epilepsy Foundation, has been invited to participate in a review of the Seizure Training for School Nurses Caring for Student (On Demand) program and provide feedback to the Epilepsy Foundation to be considered for revision of the program. AANN is looking for volunteers to serve on a Task Force to review the program and provide recommendations on behalf of AANN. We are looking for a Project Lead to oversee the project and coordinate with the other subject matter experts on the Task Force. The call is open to any nurse with expertise in the focus area. Task Force members do not have to be members of AANN. Apply by Monday, April 1st to Rita Norte, AANN Education Manager, at rnorte@aann.org.

Those in either academic or private practice from all training backgrounds are encouraged to apply.  The experienced mentor should be a source of support for nurses/student nurses, available to answer questions, provide insight, and encourage involvement within AANN, ABNN or AMWF.  As a mentor, you will directly support our shared mission to advance your fellow neuroscience nurses.  Please review the Tri-Board Mentorship Handbook for further information.

Tri-Board Mentorship Program - Mentee

Mentee applicants must be AANN members and nurses with an interest in mentorship in the furthering of their neuroscience career. Successful mentees are willing to assume responsibility for their own learning and growth.  They seek challenging assignments and responsibilities. While they are receptive to feedback and coaching by the mentor, they also are willing to constructively give feedback.  Please review the Tri-Board Mentorship Handbook for further information.
